Garlic sourdough naan is seriously the COZIEST recipe imaginable. I love that this pairs perfectly with so many foods. Plus, the fact that this is made with sourdough adds extra depth of flavor! I've only recently been able to successfully pull off sourdough. I know, I know, it's been trending for a while. But, for whatever reason, sourdough starter and I were enemies. Until recently! I finally got some starter from a friend and stopped trying to make it myself. And that made such a difference! The very first loaf I made was a win! And now, my friends, I'm delving into sourdough head-over-heels.
Anybody catch the Despicable Me reference? Anyone? But seriously, I can't get over how fluffy the texture of this naan turned out. So soft and it smells so good. My husband commented on how good the house smelled when he came home and I'm pretty sure it was this naan that made our whole house smell cozy and amazing.
Yep, this naan does not contain yogurt! So many recipes do, but what do you do if you don't have yogurt? Instead, I used cottage cheese.
Yep, I'm basically on a huge cottage cheese kick right now. Hence, the cottage cheese banana bread, cottage cheese ranch dip, and now this cottage cheese naan! If you're looking for additional cottage cheese snack options, I compiled a whole list of cottage cheese snack recipes here. Given that cottage cheese is a fridge staple for me right now, why not throw it in this naan? I think it adds some fluffiness. Just be sure to blend it well!
Anyone else here tired of kneading? This naan dough requires about a minute tops of kneading and then just lots of time to rest and do its thing. Totally perfect if you ask me! If you're looking for other no-knead bread options, check out my no-knead whole wheat bread recipe!
Between the sourdough and the garlic, this naan bread has depth of flavor like none other I've had! It just makes sense that garlic sourdough naan would be flavorful. After all, garlic adds flavor and so does the sourdough.
2. Shape your dough- shape dough into ovals and get ready to cook!
3. Cook Until Dough Is Bubbly, Then Flip!
4. Brush Naan With Butter And Sprinkle With Garlic Salt
There's nothing like adding garlic salt to this naan to really pack in that garlic flavor. My friend's mom would brush her pizza crust with butter and garlic salt and it totally took things to the next level. Now I do it with several bread products. It really takes things up a notch!
4. Devour Your Delicious Garlic Sourdough Naan
Do I even need to mention that step?
Soup- I love a good cozy soup in the wintertime. This cozy rotisserie chicken cheesy orzo soup would pair perfectly!
Curry- My love for curry is undying. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this regard! This pumpkin curry is one of my absolute faves!
Flatbread Pizzas- My husband and I just got home from a getaway and we like to make a point to visit Schlotsky's whenever possible. My favorite dish there is the flatbread pizzas. You could totally use these naan breads to make a pizza, such as this flatbread pizza recipe here! You could easily sub this sourdough naan for the flatbread recipe for a twist on this recipe!
The beauty of sourdough is that you can let it sit and not have to mess with it for hours. The struggle only comes if you need something fast! Start this dough early in the day if you want to have it ready by dinner.
I've had some naan turn out perfectly, but it can be easy to burn. Be sure to make sure your griddle is set to around 350 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal naan
This seems like a simple step but it makes such a difference!
A yummy sourdough recipe that can use starter or discard! The perfect side dish!
